Publication
Disclosure
Flavor Chemistry is owned and funded by Brookside Flavors, a commercial flavor manufacturer.
The relationship, stated plainly
This publication is owned and paid for by Brookside Flavors. It is not an independent trade title that happens to carry their advertising. If you would read the coverage differently knowing that, you should — which is why it is on this page, in the footer of every page, and on every commercial unit.
What that funding buys
- Contextual calls to action, labeled Sponsored by Brookside Flavors, placed after the answer rather than before it.
- Outbound links to Brookside Flavors marked with
rel="sponsored". - One commercial unit per page, at most.
What it does not buy
- Editorial conclusions. Where the honest answer to a formulation question is “use less active” or “change the raw material” rather than “buy a flavor”, that is what the page says.
- Suppression of alternatives. Approaches that do not involve a flavor supplier are covered where they are the better answer.
- Product placement inside editorial copy.
Why disclose at all
Manufacturer-funded content presented as independent is a well-known pattern, and it is one that search engines, trade buyers and readers all penalise once they notice. The goal of this publication is to be useful enough that a food scientist bookmarks it. That is not compatible with being caught concealing who pays for it.
